Yukkuri Diary is an Android-exclusive cellphone game created by BlueSnow that is centered around Yukkuries, as the name might imply. It's the successor to "Yukkuri Breeding Observation", a similar game made by the same developer.
A 3D, first-person perspective game made in the Unity engine, your job in this game is to raise a "farm" of Yukkuries. You can have up to 60 each in effectively six different locations: "Home" (split up into your actual home, a neighborhood with a park and mansion, and a shrine), "Park", "Ruin", and "Sea House". This allows you to have a grand total of 360. There's also a beach and forest area as well as a "Yukkuri Heaven" and "Yukkuri Hell" where any of your dead Yukkuries may go; the Yukkuri Hell is a gigantic skillet over a molten lava pit inside a volcano. These areas also obey the limits, effectively bringing your max Yukkuri limit to 480.
A PC version once existed that allowed up to 100 Yukkuries in one area. It was eventually cancelled.
The game has a "love mode" and a "violence mode". The Yukkuries themselves will be ranked at C, B, A, or S; C-ranked Yukkuries will tend to be shitheads. In practice, there are effectively seven ranks: a "low-C" will be somewhat pudgy and have drool hanging from its mouth, and a "low-B" will tend towards C-rank actions while a "high-B" might tend towards nicehead actions such as moving to one of the big leaf icons scattered around an area when it wants to poo poo. Finally, a "high-S" will glow silver or gold depending on the "Love" stat.
You earn "points", the in-game currency, by doing various actions, including selling Yukkuries. To obtain Yukkuries, you can buy them from a vending machine or go to a Yukkuri Pet Shop, or just find them roaming around. Only in the pet shop can you control which Yukkuries you get; they'll be determined at random using the other methods.
The Yukkuries currently in the game:
- Yukkuri Reimu (in normal, "wasa", and "twisty" forms; will sometimes have one hairstyle on one side and a different one on the other)
- Yukkuri Marisa
- Yukkuri Cirno
- Yukkuri Alice
- Yukkuri Chen
- Yukkuri Patchouli
- Yukkuri Youmu
- Yukkuri Sakuya
- Yukkuri Remilia
- Yukkuri Flandre
No bodied Yukkuries exist in this game, which has been a source of criticism for this game as its predecessor allowed Remilias and Flandres to gain bodies.
Yukkuries can sometimes have rabbit ears, floats, transparent buckets, and crowns on them instead of their usual accessories. Kotatsu Yukkuries are a possibility, not limited to Marisa. Yukkuries found in the beach area may have shells on their heads, also not limited to Marisa. It's possible to remove accessories in this game, and despite the game playing fast and loose with what constitutes an "accessory" (you can change it without incident, for one thing), C and B-ranked Yukkuries may still attack a Yukkuri without one.
Flandres and Remilias will act like predators unless you alter a specific setting above the "Game Start" button. Even in Predator Mode, they won't attack when they are at S or A rank, and they'll never attack a Sakuya.
Both types of reproduction exist in this game. You, supposedly, can tell by their hair colors which birth method a Yukkuri will use, but the differences are subtle except for Patchy, Remi (indigo hair for mammalian vs. "true" purple for stalk births), Myon, and Sakuya (gray hair for mammalian vs. pure white for stalk birth). It appears that because of game limitations, a stalk can only have one Yukkuri on it. To induce pregnancy, you can feed a Yukkuri a heart-shaped piece of candy for 999 points. It may also happen naturally if two Yukkuries are Rub Rubbing against each other and saying "suri suri!" (or saying "snuggle" when you pick them up) according to the "Baby Probability" slider under Extra Options; however, this slider can be set to 0, meaning they will never give birth naturally. A natural birth may create hybrids, although in this game, a "hybrid" is little more than one Yukkuri with another's hat.
Anti-yukkuritis is possible in this game, first manifesting itself by way of the Yukkuri saying "?????????????????????" when you pick it up to examine it.
